Costanzo 1990 is a design and architecture firm based in Catania. Architects Ignazio and Tino Costanzo manage the company which specializes in the fields of architecture, interior design, office planning, residential and commercial buildings. Their foundational principles reside in a group work and knowledge sharing, together with the willingness to go beyond individuality to benefit from dialogue and confrontation. Individuals’ knowledge is thus summed up to produce wider creative potential.
Thanks to experience in all fields of architecture and interior design, Costanzo 1990 is able to offer full services, from design and architecture in large-scale to the smallest details. Our architecture is not for its own sake, nor is it about an architect who pursues its own vision, but an expression in constant evolution, always open and sensitive to future changes and to the commitment.
Our aim is to encourage the constant pursuit of architectural excellence through innovation, the search for high-quality materials and the attention to every single detail, in order to provide affordable, sustainable, reliable and long-lasting buildings.
We always try to adapt our projects to the commitment, but we also think that it is important to adapt our projects to contemporary needs considering even the smallest aspects and the constant tension between contemporary and traditional.
Feasibility Studies and first steps
Catania is not only the city of the volcano dark stone, ancient city of writers and poets, but also the city where in the mid 80s Ignazio Costanzo was dreaming of becoming an architect and interior designer.
His route began in his native Catania among the painted walls of the “Istituto D’Arte” and continued at the University of architecture of Palermo. But the actual places where he found he could really build up his knowledge and experience were the construction sites. Both working and studying he has acquired practical experience that enable him to improve his ideas, create, experiment with colour or volumes spaces.
Profession shifts in vocation. As an architect, Costanzo does not perceive houses as a sterile object containers, houses are life, dynamism, houses are meant to become home, they come from a dream: a container of precious moments, moments that leave a mark on you, on life, that create the living space.
Convinced that the starting point is the creative process, Ignazio dedicates many hours to preliminary sketches. The feasibility of a project is fundamental for its success.
The house of dreams exits, it is harmony and balance between colours, lightening, materials, decorations.
Tino Costanzo has been part of the world of architecture since the early ’80s. “As a child, he discovered beauty through the eyes of his mother, who soon became his muse, the guidance to pursue his dreams.
Everything started as a game. He began to study and to imagine shapes and colours, to experiment and to distribute spaces, creating comfortable corners in his parents’ house with some boxes and drapes. What initiated as a game with his brothers, became his profession.
His professional path started at the “Istituto D’arte” of Catania and continued at the University of architecture of Palermo.
Beauty, for him, can be found in everything and everywhere: in details, colours, symmetry. Beauty is balance and harmony.
A beautiful house is the perfect marriage between the external context and the inner space, where the lightening should be carefully chosen and arranged. A Beautiful house should respect balance, harmony, and nuances. The house must be built in our mind and then become home.
L’obiettivo dopo un’attenta analisi complessiva dello spazio abitativo o dell’attività commerciale è quello di progettare la casa dei sogni attraverso un attento studio degli aspetti di tipo edile, impiantistico, architettonico, di immagine e di design. Lo Studio inoltre si appoggia ad artigiani di eccellenza in grado di contribuire alla realizzazione di qualsiasi tipo di progetto.
La fase di progettazione inizia dopo l’incontro conoscitivo con il committente e con tutti i membri della famiglia. L’ascolto è il primo importante parametro su cui si fonda l’etica professionale dello studio. Ascoltare i desideri del cliente, la sua visione dello spazio abitativo, i suoi gusti e le sue passioni, percepire i volumi, la luce e l’ambiente circostante è essenziale per fornire al committente una proposta veramente realizzabile. È altresì importante l’attenta analisi del luogo dove si richiede l’intervento: analizzare il contesto circostante, la distribuzione degli spazi, la storia dell’immobile, in modo da non snaturare mai il luogo dove si opera. Il progetto deve quindi essere legato da un filo conduttore univoco in grado di dare continuità nella proporzione di ogni cosa.
Lo studio Costanzo accompagna il cliente nella realizzazione della nuova casa, o nel restauro della stessa dall’inizio alla fine dalla progettazione; dalla soluzione pensata insieme al committente fino all’inserimento degli ultimi dettagli di arredo: mobili su misura, illuminazione, quadri, oggetti, accessori, nulla è lasciato al caso. Lo studio Costanzo esplora ogni centimetro quadrato, affinché la casa pensata diventi la casa da vivere.
